The Senior Council meeting for the Bras d’Or Lakes Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative (CEPI) held its annual meeting in Eskasoni on 14 November.

Making this meeting even more special was the presentation of framed copies of the Bras d’Or Lakes Charter. The Charter demonstrates the commitment of CEPI partners to work towards developing and implementing a management plan for the Bras d’Or Lakes watershed.

CEPI’s Senior Council represents government departments, First Nations, and municipalities. The Council approves funding and assignments of staff to CEPI and related projects. A full list of participants is listed on page 3.

A presentation on the Bras d’Or Lakes Biosphere Reserve was given by Dr. George Francis from the University of Waterloo. His experience in implementing the designation in other areas was very helpful for the CEPI team as he answered questions and addressed members’ concerns.
