Nadine LefortWelcome Nadine LeFort, Mi’kmaq Environmental Learning Centre’s Education and Outreach Coordinator. Nadine will be coordinating the Unama’KIDS program, Nikani Awtiken summer camp and working on other education projects.

Nadine recently returned home to Cape Breton after working for four years as Education Program Director and Curriculum Developer for the Sierra Club BC in Victoria. She previously worked as Aboriginal Education Research Coordinator at Cape Breton University, developed environmental curriculium and was a lecturer/instructor in the Integrative Science Program at CBU.

Nadine’s academic experience includes a Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Communication and a Bachelor of Science Community Studies with concentration in Biodiversity.

“For the past 10 years, I have been working on community-driven education initiatives. I love working with people to find lessons that really work in a community. I am thrilled to be working with MELC and am excited to see what 2013 will bring for Unama’KIDS and other environmental projects.”
