The Bras d’Or Lakes Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative (CEPI) has launched the Golden Award for the Bras d’Or Lakes.

The Golden Award award recognizes role models who, through their deeds and actions, help ensure the spirit of the Bras d’Or Lakes speaks today and for future generations.

“The Bras d’Or Lakes is a unique environment shaped by the plants, fish and animals who live in and around it. It is also influenced by people and organizations that work hard as stewards of the Lakes,” says Charlie Dennis, chair of the CEPI Management Committee.

“Through this award, CEPI wants to commend current contributions while encouraging others to implement similar actions to improve water quality and the natural environments of the Bras d’Or Lakes.”

The deadline for nominations is March 22, 2013 which coincides with World Water Day.

Nomination forms are available at www.brasdorcepi.ca.

Members of the CEPI board will review each nomination and will select a winner in each category.

Categories include youth, individual, business, community or not for profit group. Honorary mentions may also be awarded to suitable nominations.

Please read the GUIDELINES for more information on the process.

CEPI includes communities, governments and Mi’kmaq people who share a common thread–a profound dedication to the Bras d’Or Lakes and its people. UINR is a partner in CEPI and is the group’s secretariat.
