UINR is a partner in a federal joint fisheries governance project called Fisheries–Western and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (Fish-WIKS).

The project theme is “Exploring distinct indigenous knowledge systems to inform fisheries governance and management on Canada’s coasts.”

It is a community-led project to improve fisheries management by incorporating indigenous traditional knowledge.

Several opportunities are now available for students at the master’s or doctoral level.
