UINR is proud to announce the publication of our first research article in the journal BioInvasions Records of the Regional Euro-Asian Biological Invasions Centre (REABIC).
Distribution, prevalence and intensity of Anguillicoloides crassus in the American eel, Anguilla rostrata, in the Bras d’Or Lakes, Nova Scotia was written by Shelley K. Denny, Angela Denny and Tyson Paul.
In 2009 to 2010, 169 American eels from the Bras d’Or Lakes were examined for presence of the invasive nematode Anguillicoloides crassus, commonly known as the eel bladder parasite.
The paper examines the results of this research and the need to preserve aquatic habitats and reduce environmental stressors.

The Regional Euro-Asian Biological Invasions Centre (REABIC) is a largely virtual institute providing on-line information services in the area of biological invasions research and management. Facilitation of international cooperation on the invasive species related issues, linking international research community and general public, managers and decision-makers as well as other interested stakeholders are among the main REABIC objectives.
