RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Design and implement community engagement strategies
  • Support translation of community input into culturally-relevant educational materials (webinars, course content, stories, podcasts, etc.)
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, webinars, and learning circles on nature-based climate solutions and related themes
  • Build and maintain relationships with other national knowledge hubs, Indigenous networks, and academic institutions
  • Coordinate communications and outreach through newsletters, social media, and event promotion
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on outreach and learning initiatives
  • Contribute to the Hub’s network and knowledge mobilization activities

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded Outreach & Co-Learning Coordinator to join our team. This individual will play a pivotal role in fostering partner relationships, building community connections, and co-developing learning opportunities that reflect the principle of Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) in the context of nature-based climate solutions.  The Coordinator will support knowledge sharing across diverse audiences, including Indigenous communities, researchers, policymakers, and youth.

The Indigenous Learning and Knowledge Hub (ILKH) for Natural Climate Solutions is a new initiative funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada. The research and learning hub is an Indigenous-led national research project for climate change mitigation and biocultural diversity that will engage with Indigenous communities to: incorporate their views and values into natural climate solutions, develop ways to integrate Two-eyed Seeing, and develop culturally appropriate indicators and measurements for assessment and monitoring.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • We recognize and value Indigenous lived experience!
  • Familiarity with Indigenous worldviews values and community engagement practices
  • Experience in organizing educational or outreach programs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including intercultural fluency
  • Effective communication both internally within the workplace and stakeholders, and externally with the public
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and Elders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary team
  • Experience with digital platforms for communication and learning
  • Knowledge of natural climate solutions and ecological stewardship
  • Experience in academic research an asset
  • Proficiency in English but knowledge of French and First Nation languages an asset
